What is Propofol (Diprivan)?

Propofol

Brand Name: Diprivan
Classification: Central Nervous System Agent, General Anesthetic, Sedative Hypnotic
Action: sedative hypnotic used in the induction and maintenance of anesthesia or sedation.

Contraindicated to: Hypersensitivity to emulsions that contain soybean oil and eggphosphatide, patients will increased intracranial pressure.

Caution Use: Patient's with severe cardiac or respiratory disorder or history of epilepsy or seizures.

Adverse effects: Headache, dizziness, twitching, jerking, thrashing movements, Decreased intraocular pressure, Ventricular asystole, Vomiting and abdominal cramping.

Route: Intravenous
